Snoring affects millions of people across the United States, and for many patients, it’s an indication of obstructive sleep apnea (or OSA). Sleep apnea is a condition that causes your airway to become occluded with over-relaxed oral tissues, and the constant interruptions can deprive you of much-needed deep sleep.  In extreme cases OSA can be a life threatening condition if left untreated.

To help you determine if you suffer from sleep apnea, we offer a take-home digital device that you can wear to analyze your sleep patterns and diagnose obstructive sleep apnea. If you do have OSA, then Dr. Hutto may be able to treat it conservatively with a custom-designed oral appliance.

Sleep Apnea/Snoring Appliances

Snoring and sleep apnea are often caused by over-relaxed and/or misshapen mouth and throat tissues occluding your airway. To treat snoring and sleep apnea, we offer custom-designed oral appliances that help prevent airway collapse by supporting your jaw to keep your airway open.

The appliance will hold your lower jaw in a slightly forward position as you sleep, ensuring that your airway remains open. For patients with sleep apnea who currently rely on a continuous positive airway pressure machine (CPAP machine), an oral appliance can provide a more comfortable and conservative treatment option but is not intended as a replacement for CPAP therapy.
